MCR Kids: June Edition
So the half term holidays are well and truly over and the kids are back at school, but there's still plenty of fun to be had before June is out.
Here's our round up of what's happening in and around Manchester for the coolest kids in town.
The Stick Man Trail at Delamere Forest.
You'll have to get in quick with this one as it's the last weekend of The Stick Man Trail this weekend. If you haven't been already, you'll surely have heard of it. All the info is here. Let's hope the rain holds off, if not you'll need to dig out your wellies!
Manchester Children's Book Festival.
There's a week to go until the start of this event and it promises to have something for everyone. We are huge book worms here at MCR kids and so we think it's great to have a dedicated children's literary event here in our city!
There is absolutely loads going on from 24th June - 3rd July, so be sure to check out the website here or the Facebook page. We will definitely be checking out the Family Fun Day on Saturday 25th June at Geoffrey Manton Building on Oxford Road, from 10am onwards. With loads of free activities, including authors, workshops, crafts and even an Incident Response Dog Display, there really is something for everyone. See you there!
A relatively new local resource for children, parents, childminders and schools, based in Northenden Kids Creative is a sensory art studio set up by Selina, who has a degree in Art & Design and is a former Art Teacher. Throughout June and July they will be running an Alice in Wonderland theme and there is plenty going on for both little ones and older children. Check out the full line up here.
Our Kids Social
Not strictly a June event this one, it's actually taking place in Didsbury on the 9th of July, but you'll need to get your tickets sharpish. It's the summer social that promises something for everyone. With messy play, a baby sensory area, wacky races and hula-hooping on offer, plus magicians, face painters and even a bar for the big kids it's going to be one heck of a party. See the website for info and tickets.
An entirely different offering of a similar name. Our Kid, launched in 2013 by three lovely ladies from Chorlton, brings you gorgeous children's clothing and accessories sourced from the hippest British labels. Find their products on the website The even better news is that very soon, Friday 24th June to be exact, will see the opening of the brand new Our Kid shop and cafe on Oswald Road in Chorlton. Its promises to be a one stop shop for local families looking for fun, food and fashion. Keep an eye on the Our Kid Twitter and Instagram channels for more info.
Phew, that should keep you busy.
